Foster Family Services are desperately in need of foster homes in Tahoe!

50-100 children are in desperate need of temporary foster care in Lake Tahoe. There are more children in the Tahoe area in need of homes than there are foster homes to care for them. With only 13 foster homes currently available in the Tahoe area, a huge number of these children, already up-rooted from everything they know, are having to be homed far away from their friends, schools and community. As distressing as being removed from their families must be, it is only compounded when these children find themselves far from everything they know.

So Foster Family Service is making it one of their many missions to establish more foster homes in the Tahoe area. Foster families are fully supported by the service and can have total say in who they foster, when and for how long. Training and ongoing courses prepare and support the foster parents in all aspects of caring for a foster child. Anyone over the age of 25, who has their own vehicle and is willing to open their home to a child is welcome to apply. There are plenty of other opportunities to help, volunteer and mentor with the service without actually having a child stay with you too.

So, if you, or anyone you know may be interested in learning more about this vital service please contact Megan Ciampa at meganc@fosterfamilyservice.org or call her on (530) 544 3167 or visit the website for more information.
