Gardner Mountain
Gardner Mountain is a peaceful, South Lake Tahoe neighborhood set on a wooded mountain. This is easily one of the quietest locations in town and has easy access to so many of Lake Tahoe’s amenities. The Gardner Mountain neighborhood is close to bike and hiking trails, and is set above Highway 89 and less than a mile from the intersection of Highway 50 or as the locals call it the “Y”. It is only minutes to Camp Richardson, Tahoe’s greatest beaches like Pope Beach and Baldwin Beach the Valhalla and Kiva Historic sites. The area is also home to many of Lake Tahoe’s popular summer and fall festivals: The Renaissance Festival, The Great Gatsby Festival, The Kokanee Festival and the ever popular Oktoberfest.
From Gardner Mountain it is an easy bike ride or drive to one of the nation’s most photographed spots, Emerald Bay. Other scenic spots close to Gardner Mountain include: Fallen Leaf Lake and Eagle Falls. Highway 89 is also becoming known as restaurant row with several great restaurants and pubs. Gardner Mountain is one of the premier locations for exploring all of Lake Tahoe, a great choice either for a vacation home, a vacation rental or as your permanent residence.
South Lake Tahoe High School, home of the South Tahoe Vikings is nestled in the woods at the top of Gardner Mountain. The closest elementary school is Tahoe Valley Elementary but in South Lake Tahoe elementary students have several schools to choose from with open enrollment or enrollment by lottery.
Parcels in the Gardner Mountain neighborhood range in size from 5000 square feet to 10,000 square feet, many of the homes are set on 200 foot deep parcels allowing for great backyards. A few of the old estate parcels still exist and are an acre or more. There is a mix of older classic Tahoe cabins and newer modern, contemporary mountain styled homes.
